One Night // Hazel&Brady

Hazel smiled at his touch. She was a little shocked that he was being so sweet; it was a different side of him, but a side of him that she liked.  She didn’t know he could care, but he was opening up to her, and she felt closer to him.  As he rubbed his thumb across her hand, she got chills again.  ”He is a dick… But he’s my dad, the only one I’ve got. My family’s all fucked up though.” 

As she lay in his bed next to him, her body began to act by itself; she knew she felt strongly about him, but she had yet to process her feelings.  She usually just rejected anything that felt like this, because it always hurt too much.  This time, however, it was different; her heart skipped along faster as he hand moved almost by itself, and entwined her fingers with his.  She smiled sheepishly at him, chills still flowing through her. 

“Well you can have another if your mom remarries. Which she should if he is cheating on her.” he said as he looked over to her. “I’m sorry, i’m just talking too much, I’ll let you sleep.” he said as he still had his hand on her’s. Brady raised an eye brow as she placed her fingers between his.

It was odd for her to be here; she’d thought Brady would be the last person to care about this kind of stuff. “I wouldn’t know where to begin.  I don’t even know what I want.” She shrugged and listened to his reply to her question.  She’d hate to have her life planned out the way his was, but she really couldn’t relate.  At least he had a plan, even if it wasn’t his own.

 ”At least your dad knows who you are.  Even with the hair, he could never tell me apart from Sarah.  He doesn’t really know I exist.”  She brushed a stray lock from her face, but it fell back down again.  ”He can’t see past the secretary bent over his desk.”  She said quietly. 

“Well I can try and help you with that, I don’t want to see you stuck in the shit town like the rest of these people”. he said moving his hand placing it on the girls hand “You are much better then anyone in this town you just don’t know it yet.” Brady left his hand on her’s.

He was listing to her “Yeah He want’s me to follow in his footstep’s last time I checked I don’t want to be the state attorney. I love him to death but every time I bring up the fact that he is pushing me into something I don’t want to do he starts to yell and my mom sits there and doesn’t say a word.” the boy paused “He just doesn’t know what No means.” His hand still on hers he started to move his thumb feeling her skin “Well you’r dad sounds like a complete dick if you ask me.”

Hazel sighed at his question.  ”Mostly because I don’t think my family will ever move.  And if there’s one thing I want to get away from it’s them.”  She didn’t really like to talk about her family.  It was too hard, too deep a wound.  She smiled at Brady and asked, “What about you?  Are you always going to live here in the lap of luxury?”  She teased him a bit.  God he looks… She got chills and shivered a bit, even though she was warm. 

Brady listened to her “Well you know you don;t have to stick by your family your whole life. You have big things coming up in your life, but nothing is going to happen if you stay in this shit town.” He wanted to blow off her question but he knew he couldn’t ”Well my dad has everything laid out for me you see.” he rolled to his back “The day after I graduate I get a week off of school then I get to go to CSU, early admission’s. See my dad has everything laid out for me” he looked over to Hazel “My life is and always will be laid out for me which sucks because If I do the wrong thing I get yelled at.”

Hazel had flipped on her stomach, folded her arms on top of the pillow, and rested her head on them.  It was how she slept usually.  She looked over at Brady, and he was looking at her.  She felt a bit awkward, and spoke up.  ”You going to keep staring at me like that?”  She smiled as she said it, and laughed a bit too.  She wasn’t really tired anymore. 

“What, I cant look at you fine.” He turned oh his other side and smiled. Brady could barely keep his eye’s opened but he knew that it would be weird if he feel asleep before her so he turned back to her “So, Why don’t you like it here. Lakeshore wise.” he looked at the girl and bit his bottom lip and placed on hand under his head.

Hazel laughed and walked over to the bed.  ”She’s not that bad.”  She climbed into the bed next to him, making sure not to get too close; she didn’t want to make him think she wanted to cuddle or some shit. Which reminded her, “Um… So just so you know, I tend to move around sometimes in my sleep. And… Well I’m a bit of a cuddler….”  She sighed and laughed at herself a little, and looked over at Brady.  ”But, you know, I’ll try to resist.  It might be hard, what with your boyish good looks.”  She said sarcastically.  

“It’s fine I sleep like a rock so I wont feel a thing so do your best.” he said as he turned his back to her for a bit to turn of the lamp and to set his phone alarm, He can’t miss church in the morning or his mom will kill him. Brady turned back to the girl making eye contact as he laid on his side.
